Gloriosa Lilies
Gloriosa Lilies

Gloriosa Lilies are one of the longest lasting and best of all tropical cut flowers.  They can be grown easily in the summer of any area.  The long, stick-like tubers have one growing sprout on the end.  Plant them shallowly, just 1-2" deep, with the tuber laying on its side.  I have grown them in potting soil, sand, and native clay, all with good results.  Plant them near something to climb on.  Tellises, fences, or even bushes will do.  G. Rothschildiana is the largest and the one most commonly grown.
