The single variety is traditionally used in the Chinese New Year celebration. It is the flower on top of this bunch of flowers.
They can bloom as early as November and continue through March, depending on when they get water. Actually native to the desert of Palestine where they grow during the winter rainy season. Needs well drained soil. Multiplies well.
IN COLDER CLIMATES, THESE LARGE BULBS ARE VERY EASILY FORCED FOR WINTER BLOOM INDOORS!
Mixed size bulbs are 0.75 to 1.2 inches or so across. Grown, freshly dug, and sorted by hand here in the USA. We had a bumper crop so these are on sale while supplies last!
