Although sold as Lycoris Aurea, these bulbs from Japan are most likely Lycoris Traubii.  Esoterically this means they have 14 chromosomes instead of 16.  More importantly, these are seed fertile and are more cold hardy than the Lycoris Aurea bulbs from further south.  Frequently the foliage doesn't start comming up until December.  So I expect them to be hardy down to zone 7, especially if leaves are involved in your landscape.

These enchanting flowers are native to Asia. They are great outdoor bulbs for the south, or can be potted plants elsewhere. They bloom in late summer to fall. Usually these are sold in the fall after they have been sitting on the shelf for several months. This limits their survival and blooming ability. I still can't guarantee they will bloom this fall (since they don't like transplanting) but they could bloom if planted soon.

Large 12 cm bulbs.

These bulbs are the new harvest from Japan and are in stock now.
