Cyrtanthus Mackenii is one of the easiest species to grow.  It loves water but can survive drought.  It can be grown indoors in containers or outside in zones 7+.  These bloomed for me in October and again in January after I brought them indoors.  My understanding is that an extended or repeat bloom is not uncommon.  They will stay evergreen if kept frost free.  Given time a pot will become crowded with bulbs, but this does not stop them from blooming.  Hobgoblin has reportedly survived outside in zone usda 6.

These bulbs are naturally small but blooming size or close to it.
