This rare hippeastrum is a semi aquatic species from Uraguay.  I have grown it both submerged and along-side my usual terrestrial hippeastrum.  It might do better with more water, but it doesn't appear to suffer in the garden.  Please experiement and report back.   Hopefully it will give extra water/rot resistance to future hybrids.  The trumpety flowers remind me of some of the old artwork of Hippeastrum Vittatum (one of the parents of H. X johnsonii).

The bulbs for sale are small seedlings that are between 1 and 2 years old, and about 1 cm across.  Early growth was generally slow but some bulbs are taking off with large leaves this year.  I expect some from this batch could bloom in the summer of 2018.
