Ziva is the classic Paperwhite by which all others are judged.

Makes a good outdoor flower in areas with mild winters. In colder climates these are easily forced inside for winter blooms. Bright light will help prevent legginess and encourages strong stems.

Blooming Size 12-13 cm cir. bulbs.

We have found its best to force bulbs in soil for longer lasting better flowers

Forcing In Soil

Find a pot that is going to give you at least 1/2 an inch between bulbs and the edge of the pot. Bulbs can be close but it would be best for them not to touch.   Fill with a freely draining  potting soil mix. Add bulbs. Plant the bulbs so the basal plate will stay above the water line and the roots will have free access. its better to under water slightly than over water and rot the bulbs. Water deeply so all soil is moist but not WET.  Pots should be placed in a cool room (around 55 to 60 degrees) for 1-2 weeks to stimulate roots.  After that move them to a warm spot (around 70 degrees) with bright light. Windows work great.  More light will make the foliage less "leggy". and more upright.  Make sure to rotate your pot every few days to keep stalks straight. Once they start to bloom move the pot to a cooler spot out of direct light.  this will extend the life of the flowers. Keep soil slightly moist at all times.  You can move the container out of doors after they bloom, but be sure that you have had your last frost.  Let the foliage yellow  and die back naturally so the bulbs can absorb as many nutrients as possible.

Thay can be planted out of doors in Zones 8-11 during the fall or spring.
