WE WILL UNLIST THESE END OF DECEMBER FOR PLANTING HERE!

Crocus Sativus is the source of the most expensive spice (per ounce) in the world.  It was held as a closely guarded secret by ancient dynasties.  Now you can grow it in your own garden.  The source of saffron is the large red stigmas in each flower.  In addition to spicing culinary masterpieces, it is used as a dye for fine textiles.  Research into potential health and medical benefits is currently underway.

This is a fall blooming crocus, which usually blooms in October or November, but can bloom later if planted late.  Foliage emerges at the same time as the flowers and persists until spring.  As a native of Central Asia, it can endure hot summers and cold winters.

large 10+ cm size bulbs

Zones: 6-10.  It can also be grown in indoor containers.
